Don’t Wait For Perfect to Get Your Healthy Lifestyle Started!

Have you ever heard yourself say, “I am going to start being healthy after X”?

X being = “all these summertime weddings and events”,  “the holidays”,  “this weekend”, or “this vacation is over”

This way of thinking is not beneficial, yet we all seem to fall into it at some point or another. I tend to fall into this line of thinking with my finances.

Each month, my husband makes me sit down to closely examine our expenses, income, and net worth (the joys of marrying a financial planner). It seems like every month we have some sort of huge expense like new tires or several wedding gifts. I used to say, “next month we will be able to save more because we won’t have to buy X (new tires, etc..)”. What I soon came to realize is that every month has a big expense, and saving was not going to get any easier.

The same thing goes for our health. The sooner we realize that there is never going to be a perfect time to start being healthy, the sooner we can get started.

Peeps let me tell you – perfect does not exist! There is never going to be a “better” time to start being more healthy. The perfect time is TODAY.

Whether you want to believe it or not, every moment in life is a choice. Think about all the moments you have in one day to make a more healthy choice. There are tons! Instead of watching TV you could go out for an evening walk with your loved one. You could make the choice to get up 10 minutes earlier to eat the breakfast you never have time for. You could make the choice to get grilled chicken instead of fried chicken on your lunchtime salad.

All the small healthy choices you make, add up to something really big! That’s why it’s important to get started right now. Don’t wait for tomorrow, next week, or next month. Start today!
