For the past few years my family and I have been participating in an annual mother’s day breast cancer walk. The walk benefits the organization known as “Y-Me”. Y-Me feels that no one should face breast cancer alone and provides a hot-line where you can reach a peer counselor (who is also a survivor) 24/7, 365 days a year.
This year our we called ourselves, “team mams”. My brother came up with the name because he calls our mom, “mams”, but he also said it was fitting because it’s like short for mammaries. hahaha. oh brother.
I am in the purple yoga pants. Yes, I know, I am obsessed with them. You can also see our newest family member popping out from underneath my shirt!
It was a beautiful spring day in the city. Doing the walk felt like a perfect way to celebrate my mom and her 4 years as a survivor. Wahoo! Go mom! I am just so thankful that she is not only here with us, but thriving!
After the walk we headed back to my place for some brunch! Darn, I wish I would have taken some pictures because the food was pretty tasty. On the menu was spinach omelette cups, roasted sweet potatoes, turkey bacon, watermelon, and whole wheat muffins. I thought it was a pretty good spread.
After we finished up brunch, my husband and I headed out to the suburbs to celebrate the rest of the day with his mom. We ate some more tasty food and played a little bocce. All in all a really great day! It was hard for me to believe that next year I will be celebrating mother’s day as a mom myself!
Hopefully all of you out there had a great time on mother’s day too!
